2007 - Easy CGI has upgraded all the hosting packages.
For the Basic Hosting plan, the disk space and bandwidth has been increased to 350 GB and 3,500 GB respectively.
Overview
EasyCGI, an established New York web page hosting provider, founded in Year
1998. With close to seven years in the web hosting industry, their 6000
customers based is considered very small if compare to other fast growing
web hosting companies.
Key Hosting Features
With the latest upgrade, the basic hosting plan provided by EasyCGI
has increased to 350 GB of disk space and 3,500 GB bandwidth (up from the previously
100 GB disk space and 1,000 GB bandwidth). With this upgrade, this has put Easy CGI into one of the
best web hosting providers in our review. In addition, EasyCGI basic plan offers not only common hosting
features such as CGI-BIN, php, SSI but also many windows features such as
ASP, ASP.NET 2.0/1.1 with AJAX 1.0, JSP, 50 mySQL and Microsoft Access. Usually, one has to pay more for
Window hosting plan than Unix hosting plan. With EasyCGI basic plan, you
pay only $7.96 per month.
Few disadvantages of EasyCGI basic plan are:
- Their Web Trends software for traffic reports only supported in
Advanced X2 and Advanced X4 hosting packages. For Advanced Plan, no web statistical software except raw logs file.
Meaning, you have to purchase a separate web log analysis tool to analyze your web
traffic.
- Even though it is a Windows hosting plan, surprisingly, it did not
support ColdFusion for the Advanced Plan! If you need these
two features, you will need to sign-up their Advanced X2 hosting plan at
$15.96 per month.
Customer Support
EasyCGI customer support is considered mediocre. It's toll free phone
support 1-866-327-9244 only available from Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM to
5:00 PM EST. But when we tested their email support, they proved to response
promptly (within half an hour) and friendly.
Data Center
EasyCGI is moving their data center to a new facility at Blue Hill Plaza in
Pearl River, New York. The new facility boasts a 15,000 square foot data
center with 500 KW generator and 125KVa UPS. They use Dell PowerEdge servers
with 3.0GHz Xeon processor and 1GB server memory running on Windows 2000
operating systems. Since their headquarter office and data center is located
in the same building, EasyCGI has direct physical access to their facility.
Therefore, they have full control when the problem arise, so that you can
have peace of mind to focus on your core business.
Summary
Now, do you need EasyCGI hosting plan? If you plan to own a website running
on HTML, SSI or PHP, then any Unix hosting plans recommended in our review
is a better choice. However, if you need to find a Windows hosting provider
and do not find the disadvantages mentioned above matter to you, then EasyCGI could be a good option for their
